Business mentoring

From Marlborough, NZ.

I volunteer as a business mentor and currently work with 6 business owners to help them improve their respective businesses. My approach is to rapidly help identify the various areas where the business can improve, and systematically work with the business owner to figure out the most efficient approach to make things better.

In my experience, the vast majority of business complications are marketing problems, and this is an area that I have tremendous experience in with my own company. Invariably once the marketing message is optimised, it puts the business well onto the path to financial riches.

We’ll also do plenty of big, important talk during our discussions. I prefer to meet weekly or fortnightly – most mentees are in other locations around NZ so discussions are usually by video or phone.

I have a few motivations to volunteer as a business mentor. It helps keep the brain sharp helping business owners figure a way through their, and also, I’ve utilised business mentors myself in the past and know that having an excellent mentor can make a huge positive impact on the business. And that also have a terrible mentor can be very damaging. Having had one mentor in the first category and two in the second, I want other business owners to be able to benefit from my hard-fought knowledge and expertise.
